Fly for just 100 Rs.

Air India celebrates Air India Day and issues tickets for 100 Rs.
Air India will sell tickets for Rs 100 for five days from Wednesday — which it will celebrate as Air India Day to commemorate the merger of erstwhile Indian Airlines and Air India on this day in 2007.
On the occasion, the flag carrier launched ‘Air India Offer’ – a scheme offering tickets for Rs 100 apart from all applicable taxes. The sale of these tickets is being made through the airline’s website exclusively for five days from August 27 to 31 for travel between August 27 and September 30 only.
Airlines carry out discounts to push up forward bookings as typically domestic flights are 30 per cent full a month before the travel date. Also August-September are lean seasons for air travel.

Usually airlines discount tickets 30-60 days from the booking date and price them higher on closer to booking date. The sales also enable the airlines to generate cash. However, under this offer, low-priced tickets will be available on the booking date as well.

SpiceJet has been carrying out sale every week.

Jet Airways did a sale around the Independence Day and it looks like Air India is responding with its own offer.

The sale of these tickets is being made through the airline’s website exclusively for five days from August 27 to 31 for travel between August 27 and September 30 only.
However, on the first day of the scheme, the website crashed perhaps due to unprecedented traffic, making people struggle to actually book any ticket.
Those who tried booking the tickets online were unable to log in to the website since the link was taking long to open before throwing up a ‘Service Unavailable’ page. Another link to book tickets on Air India showed a “System Busy” message.
